Luc Goudreault Corporate director

Roles

On your board, your advisory boardor alongside the CEO.

I work mostly with growing Québec SMEs that have been around for 10 years or more, and sometimes with a promising startup. Every engagement is defined in writing before we start.

Board seat

A director on your company's board.

I bring the board the view of someone who has run a company: the uncomfortable questions, asked early, and a realistic read of what management can deliver.

  • Strategy and growth
  • Go-to-market and pricing
  • Financing and exits, from the inside

Advisory board

A member of your advisory board.

An outside, candid view on your major decisions, without the structure of a board of directors. For companies that want to surround themselves with advisors before forming a board, or to round out the one they have.

CEO advisory mandate

Strategic advisor to the CEO, on an ongoing basis.

A regular sounding board to prepare hard decisions, weigh competing priorities, track performance and walk into the board meeting with a clear position. The mandate is billed at a fixed fee: scope, deliverables and price are set up front.

Strategy

For the organization as a whole.

  • Strategic assessment
  • 1-, 3- or 5-year planning
  • Execution roadmap

Go-to-market

For the revenue engine.

  • Commercial assessment
  • Go-to-market strategy
  • Pricing structure

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free exploratory meeting?
No. I answer every request in writing; work starts once we agree on an engagement.
Board of directors or advisory board?
A board of directors decides and carries legal responsibility. An advisory board advises, without that responsibility. Both have their place, depending on the company's stage.
How is the CEO advisory mandate billed?
Fixed fee. Scope, deliverables and price are set up front.
Do you name the companies you work with?
No. Never without their explicit consent.
What kind of companies do you work with?
Mostly growing Québec SMEs, established for 10 years or more, in technology, manufacturing and services. Sometimes a promising startup.

Know which of the three seats you need?

Describe the issue in a few lines. I read every request myself and reply with what I suggest next.
